  • While some of you are posting snow pics, I am feeling kind of jealous. I do love at least one good snow a year! So if you have more then enough, send some to South Carolina.  At least we have been getting some rain, and that's good...no it's very good. Lake Hartwell was down 22 feet, as of Dec. 5th and the bottom was showing in many places. It seemed scary to drive across the bridge, and see boats stranded way up the side of the dry, dry ground that used to be covered with wonderful water! As of today the water level is 15 feet low, and the city of Pickens has lifted the water restrictions...for now. The last 2 years we have missed out on the usual tropical storms that may do some damage, but bring  much needed rain.  The last 2 years have been so dry and hot that if anything was to grow I had to take the hose out in the evening and water and water and water... ah well, there are so many things to trust God for. and we do know for sure that He is in control, PTL  So with that in mind I am eager to get in the garden again, and see what God has for us in 2009, I know it will be good!

  • Continued From Mary & Joseph

     Thanks for all the replies.  Someone mentioned the Grandmary part. Back 10 years or so when I first became a grandmother  we were reading one of the American Girl Doll book series, (Samantha I think)  Her grandmother was called Grandmary, One of our children thought I should be called the same, and it stuck.

    We had a great Christmas, our house was full of fun and laughter, Oh yes,  it was work, and at the time one has fleeting thoughts of  "Is it worth it?  but as soon as it's all over,  we know for sure that it was!   Lately I've been  more aware  of the blessing of family support,  and what a tremendous blessing it is.   many families are broken up, angry and bitter  or just don't care!

    What have I ever done, to deserve even one, of the blessings I've known?

  • Christmas is over for another year, and this morning my house is quiet for the first time since it all began on Christmas eve. btw when we were at the Door of Hope banquet we played a game where you write on a peice of paper something about yourself that no-one there knows about, so this is what I wrote.."I was named for the holiday I was born on"...no-one there could guess who it was! can you?  Obviously it's me, my name is Mary Christine, I was born on Christmas eve. 62 years ago. My birthday was largely forgotted most of my life, and strangely, I never minded it overly much. As my children grew up they began to make parties for me etc. (The last years especially), I never thought I wanted to take away from the birthday of Jesus by having a birthday party for myself.  My husbands name is Joseph, so that makes us.                             Mary and  Joseph... To be continued

  • My Prayer Today

    Oh to be like Thee! blessed Redeemer; This is my constant longing and prayer;

    Gladly I'll for-feit all of earth's treasures, Jesus, thy perfect likeness to wear.

    Oh to be like Thee! full of compassion, Loving, forgiving, tender and kind

    Helping the helpless, cheering the fainting, seeking the wand'ring sinner to find.

    Oh to be like Thee! Lord I am coming, Now to receive the anointing divine;

    All that I am or have I am bringing; Lord from this moment all shall be Thine.

    Oh to be like Thee! Oh to be like Thee! Blessed Redeemer, pure as thou art;

    Come in Thy sweetness, come in Thy fullness; Stamp Thine own image

                                            deep on my heart.  Sel.
